DO YOU WANT INTERLAKE TO OPEN?
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) - Division of Outdoor Recreation is in the process of selecting a company that will be writing a proposal for the Management Plan of Interlake. This Management Plan will set in motion the direction for uses and access at the Interlake property.
Your help is imperative in advocating your interest in Interlake. Not only in the desire to get it open as soon as possible (ASAP), but, to insist that it goes in the direction you want relative to your recreational interests. It isn't known whether the company Outdoor Recreation selects to write the Management Plan has experience in addressing the desires and needs of the users or their best interests in mind.
With these concerns in mind, WCRD and user groups that have been working with
Outdoor Recreation in the initial phases of Interlake, see the importance of
writing letters to our various Legislators and Outdoor Recreation. Letters of
support and suggestions are necessary in this next phase for Interlake to keep
decision makers and land managers mindful of what we want Interlake to be.
